School Show

This is a marvellous opportunity for students to dress up, slap on some make-up and put all that hard work into practice! Everyone is encouraged to take part, from the youngest three-year-old (who, after all, steals the show) to the oldest, most advanced student. Unlike a number of schools we mount a production only every two years. This way the syllabus work receives less interruption and, by taking a whole term to learn the choreography and rehearse the dances, the end result is a polished and professional production of which everyone can be proud.

Platinum Performance was the title of the School's 70th Anniversary production held at the Civic Theatre, Chelmsford in July 2009. The show combined Snow White, inspired by the well-known children’s story, which was the delightful item for the Junior and Middle school Ballet students; The Perils of Hecules, based on Greek mythology, and provided a great deal of fun for the Junior Modern and Tap, and Junior Musical Theatre students; A Dream For Summer, inspired by a Midsummer Night’s Dream, an opportunity for our Senior Ballet students to dance to the wonderful music by Mendelssohn; and The Devious Diamond Heist, featuring Lady Weston whose theatre was celebrating its 70th anniversary for which she was holding a gala performance and in the run-up to which an expensive necklace she has borrowed had gone missing - there were plenty of opportunities for the Senior Modern, Tap and jazz students to “strutt their stuff” as well as incorporating our Senior Musical Theatre students.

Planning has already started for the next show which will be held between between 12th and 16th July 2011, once again at the Civic Theatre in Chelmsford.
